Cancelled-Wild Crafted Cocktails
Schiff Nature Center
339 Pleasant Valley Road, Mendham, 07945

What do you get when you combine foraging for wild, edible plants with the craft cocktail movement? A wildcrafted cocktail, of course! It might be a mustard green martini, a sumac gin spritzer, or a wild whiskey sour. Join us at Schiff as we welcome Ellen Zachos back to inform and entertain us as she teaches us how to combine foraged, local, seasonal, flavors with your favorite spirits, to create unique, wildcrafted cocktails. We'll also talk about everybody's favorite cocktail ingredient: bitters! (Foraged bitters, of course.) Ellen taught at the NYBG for many years, and was the Coordinator of the Gardening Department in Continuing Ed, before moving to Santa Fe, NM in the summer of 2014. She is the author of seven books including Backyard Foraging and The Wildcrafted Cocktail and has a regular foraging column in Edible Santa Fe. A former Broadway performer, Ellen is a Harvard graduate and was named a Great American Gardener by the Epcot Flower and Garden Festival. This class includes a presentation in the Nature Center, a plant walk, and cocktail (mock if preferred) tastings. Ellen's books will be available for purchase and signing. Member fee is $30.
